I'm absolutely buzzing to share that the newest little creation to flutter out of the Homebird workshop is now live: the One More Chapter Bookmark. She's got a silky satin finish and she's ready to mark your place in your latest page-turner. This one feels a little different from my usual range but still very much part of what Homebird is all about: celebrating the little things that bring us joy every day. 💖
The Story Behind the Bookmark 📚
If you've been hanging around here for a while, you'll know I've been on a bit of a mission lately — slowing down, embracing more me time, and generally trying to give hustle culture the middle finger - and reading has been a huge part of that journey. There’s something magical about getting lost in a story, putting your phone down (or throwing it into another room if you need to) and just letting your mind wander somewhere else for a while...
I’ve always loved books — but this year especially, they've become little life rafts helping me to paddle my way through the choppy waters of running a small business, navigating creative ruts, and remembering that it’s okay to simply be. That's why the bookmark idea felt like such a natural little detour from the usual Homebird jewellery — because stories are talismans too, just like the jewellery I make 🙌
The very first bookmark was actually a little Christmas gift I made for myself — a way to quietly celebrate my rediscovered love for reading. Normally, I’d mark the end of the year by treating myself to a new tool or making a piece of jewellery, but this felt like the perfect gift at the perfect time — something small, meaningful, and just for me.
A month or so later, I was chatting with my jewellery pal Jane about it, and she casually mentioned how lovely it would be to see more like it. She told me I should share it with you lot — cue me thinking, no one’s going to be interested, it’s not jewellery, who even cares about bookmarks? Classic imposter syndrome 🙄
But with a little nudge from Jane (thanks Jane! 😘), I shared it — and you guys LOVED it. So I sent it off to my photographer, Holly worked her magic, and here we are. A limited run of the One More Chapter Bookmark — a little nudge to take your time, savour the story, and let yourself get lost in another world for a while.
The design is simple but meaningful — choose between sleek sterling silver or warming brass, each one stamped with the words 'One more chapter' as a reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down, turn the page, and lose yourself in something just for you 📖
